8 · Particles — the little connecting words · a plain-language guide to Assyrian (Sureth) grammar

From Khan Ch. 8. Speaking value: HIGH — this chapter is where your sentences get their glue: here / there, now / tomorrow, on / under / with / from, and / but / because. Almost none of these change form (a handful of prepositions do), so most of it is just vocabulary you can start using today.

A particle is any small helper word that isn't a noun, verb, adjective, or pronoun — words like here, now, well, all, on, from, and, but, if. Assyrian lumps them together, but for speaking they split into four practical buckets:

Grammar terms (preposition, adverb, quantifier, enclitic…) are explained inline the first time they appear and collected in "Grammar words in plain English."
