7 · Numerals — counting, dates, "the second one" · a plain-language guide to Assyrian (Sureth) grammar
- All the historical derivations (§7.1.1–7.1.5: where each number came from, the \*tlāṯā etymologies, why -emma takes the heavy quality after some numbers, the \*s gemination in the teens). Interesting for a linguist, zero payoff for speaking — the forms are what you use.
- Cardinals with pronominal suffixes (§7.1.7: turventan "the two of us," khamshuntan "the five of us," kulluntan "all of us"). A real and useful little set, but a secondary, recognize-it-later pattern. Flagged here so you know the compact forms exist if you hear them — no need to drill them to hold a conversation. Note that "one of us" is not one of them: kha and the numbers above ten stay uncontracted with men-, so it is kha mennan.
