7.9 Seasons
7 · Numerals — counting, dates, "the second one" · a plain-language guide to Assyrian (Sureth) grammar
Four words, all treated as masculine:
| season | Assyrian |
|---|---|
| winter | setva |
| spring | bi-nisane |
| summer | keta |
| autumn | chiriyye |
bi-nisane literally leans on nisan (April) — spring is "the Nisan-time." Sometimes shortened to just nisane. chiriyye (autumn) is likewise tied to the autumn months below (chiri).
To say "in summer / in winter," put b- ("in") on the front: b-keta "in summer," b-setva "in winter."
