5 · Nouns — naming things, and making them plural · a plain-language guide to Assyrian (Sureth) grammar

From Khan Ch. 5. Speaking value: HIGH — nouns are half of every sentence. The good news: Assyrian nouns don't have cases, and there's no "the/a" to juggle. The two things you actually have to learn are (1) a noun's gender (is it a "he" word or a "she" word?) and (2) its plural, which isn't fully predictable and just has to be picked up noun by noun. This chapter gives you the patterns and the shortcuts.

Grammar terms (gender, singular, plural, annexation, compound…) are explained inline the first time they appear and collected in "Grammar words in plain English."
